Sometimes the trip was longer for Jason when he had to detour to Benson and pick up his toddler son, Devon, from a previous relationship. To see each other on their days off meant 4½ hours of driving. Justin and Amy were grateful to be working in their desired field, but the separation was a strain on their relationship. Cloud, Justin moved to Aberdeen for five months before taking a job as the morning weather man at KCAU-TV, an ABC affiliate in Sioux City, Iowa, in November 2003. By the time Justin graduated with a bachelor's degree in meteorology in late fall 2002, they were dating exclusively.Īfter her graduation in May, Amy took a job with the National Weather Service in Aberdeen. That is, until a fortuitous turn of circumstances brought them both to meteorology jobs in Duluth. The scarcity of meteorology jobs meant they could both work in meteorology or be together - not both. "It doesn't always work, though," Justin added.Įven after their June 2004 marriage, the Liles struggled to find a way to be together. "A lot of the time, we try to stop ourselves from talking about the weather because it's already such a large part of our lives," she continued.
